Freex IRL, Episode 15: Family Portrait

>.<

Sorry, no episode this week. I am currently at my parent's house—my little sis' celebrates her birthday— and haven't got the time to draw. Anoter reason is GunRun. It cost us (and Highfly) 120 Gig traffic, so I had to take measures and remove the music (which reduced the size of the game by about 500%). I also fixed some bugs and introduced a little surprise in level 20 (and 40, 60,…).

I hope you don't mind — my courses begin soon and I don't know how much free time will be left.

Have a nice un-freexed week!

I don't know, this comic really took me long. One reason was that I tried to get my hands on a better auto-tracing program—I use a tracing program to clean up my lineart— and so I searched the net for something useful. That took me about an hour, and still no reasonable good tracing tool in sight. I tried AutoTrace but, call me lazy, I don't like command line programs for my graphic work. Somehow that just does not seem right. So I searched on and stumbled upon delineate, a Java GUI for autotrace. The problem lies in the term Java. Aftere about half an hour of trial and error I threw autotrace and delinate from my harddisk. No space for programs playing "hard to install".
However, I finally downloaded a trial version of Adobe Illustrator. As so many times before it seems like this company can read their customers minds. The smooth live-tracing feature was exactly the thing I tried to get. Darn. OpenSource: 0, Big Evil Companies: 1.

Well, have a nice week.
